Board of Zoning Appeals

The Village of Lewisburg Board of Zoning Appeals is authorized to hear appeals, in matters related to zoning, from individuals requesting exceptions or variations for Village ordinances in regard to land use and building requirements, and to review zoning ordinance interpretations. The Board of Zoning appeals works closely with the Village Council, the Municipal Manager, the Law Director, and the Planning Commission to gather information that is useful and relevant to the outcome of an appeal.

The Board of Zoning Appeals was created by the Village of Lewisburg Charter and consists of five community members appointed by the Village Council for staggered, five-year terms. The Codified Ordinances of the Village of Lewisburg also creates the position of Director of Zoning, also known as the Zoning Inspector. The Zoning Inspector is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the zoning ordinances.

Currently, the Board of Zoning Appeals meets every third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Lewisburg Fire Department and is led by the Zoning Inspector, Steve Combs. Mr. Combs has served the Village of Lewisburg for more than 15 years. He is a former member of the Village Council, Board of Zoning Appeals and, for the last four years, has served as Zoning Inspector.
